One of the worst text books I've read. Used this book for a graduate class. Poorly written, in text citations break up the flow. The book spent 75% of the time pleading with the reader that IT is important. Extremely vague, should not be used to educate.
This book is awful. It was outdated before it was written. It just repeats variations of the same BS theme in every chapter. Don't get it unless you have to.
The book is full of 'focus group' responses, but the text might have been better illustrated with some concrete examples. I understand that IT is generated 'as is' most of the time, but some examples would help. My class incorporated many local examples and that significantly increased the understanding that I had of the concepts presented in this book.
I'm not an IT nerd, but this book is really interesting and education. It highlights the disconnection between IT and business, and explains why IT and business must collaborate. I enjoy this book, and I'm glad my professor assigned it for my MIS course.
I am using this book for a graduate CIS capstone course and so far it is a great resource. It is based on information gathered through surveys and interviews done with IT professionals which makes it a valuable resource for my situation. The chapters are short and to the point with very little to no filler.
